the first half of the film was much more enjoyable for me then the last. they began to kinda make a joke of a lot of stuff that was going on and it was just not as fun as watching all the great footage of the artists. i thought the movie was ok

R.I.P

so i have been trying to put this off as long as i can, but i have to face the truth at some point. my beloved 3.1 megapixel KODAK CX6330, that my parents got me for my 16th birthday, has died. i loved this camera. i couldn't take a bad picture with it.it will be missed.

anyway, since i graduated collage in May, i have been working on somewhat of a series with this camera. now that the camera is dead i guess the body of work is complete. I want to have a show for the work. i am working on finding a place to do it.  until then here are some of the pictures from that series.

I think im gonna call the body of work "proud peninsula" it was kinda the theme of that time i guess.

This is a thing i did with all the random footage i shot throughout the year. This is the first half of it. I hope to have the second half up before the new year.  This year has been weird.

NPFOM/Weekend/Young Prisms

This is a new video i put together from a show at the caid (Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit) this last weekend.  The show was a lot of fun.  No Pussy For Old Men, a band from Detroit, starts things off with a medley of hits that i now have stuck in my head. Their set ends with a pretty sweet rendition of The Cranberries "Dream" and made me re-realize how great that song is. I have since youtube'd the video for the song several times.  Next was the first of two San Fransisco bands that were in Detroit that night, Weekend. Weekend rocked shit, if you look at the end of their set you'll see some frantic camera shakes that were caused by a pretty raging crowed of kids getting down directly next to me. Last was the group Young Prisms. In the clip they perform their song "Sugar" a layered dream of guitar and vocal perfection. The audio is what it is for the video, its hard with loud ass punk rock type sound in a little venue like that, im working on making it better tho, $ $ $ $ :( ! Ok hope you enjoy!

i just put like 15 "new" videos on my vimeo page. i'm trying to phase out my youtube page for the most part, so some of the videos are just ones that are already on youtube but not vimeo.  other ones i put up are just older videos i've never got around to posting online. below are a few selections from these older videos.

The Posies, a band i didnt know anything about, came into the Metro Times building today to play an acoustic set before their show tonight here in Detroit. I shot the performance. Below was the highlight of the mini set for me. A cover of one of my favorite songs, Big Star "Thirteen"

video i took at the caid a few weeks ago. i shot some more footage of Swimsuit and Deaf Beast at the same show that i hope to get online as well. im super A.D.D. and im constantly working on 10 different things, so please excuse the lack of chronological order of the videos i put up. 

Hot Chip///LCD Soundsystem

This was a weird night. First the show was 35 bones, so that was kind of a drag. Then I got my video camera in but they made me put it back in the car before Hot Chip even started.  I then proceeded to clown around and take a lot of pictures.

Despite far out introspective thinking most of the night, this was a really good show. I understand why these are two of the biggest bands in "indie" culture today.
